Based solely on the massive amount of noise emanating from the dual RCB outfall of Abaddon, we thought this was going to be an interesting drain. The drain is located at the bottom of a steep valley that drops some 15 metres below the road. This change in elevation, one would think, would make for some interesting architecture. It was not so. After a long slog through deep mud and debris we reached an abrupt end and the source of the booming water. A deep drop-shaft without any churn blocks or other such technique to slow the water from 10 metres above. There is also no way of getting up. The ladder that was maybe once there lays out beyond the outfall, mangled from the tons of water and river bed material that hurled down on it until it let go and was transported out to its final resting place.
